Caramel Apple Gift Basket

I know in many areas school just started last week but for us, Fall Break is right around the corner.  Last year my girls gave their teachers a Caramel Apple Gift basket on the last day of school before fall break so the teachers would have a fun activity to work on with their own kids during break.  Fortunately, Dollar Tree has the same plastic containers in the same fun, fall colors so we are going to be making them again this year.  This is an inexpensive gift to put together and will definitely put a smile on the face of the receiver.  It’s perfect to give to teachers or neighbors or anyone who needs a little fall fun!

Any plastic container would work, but if you live near a Dollar Tree be sure to pick up one of the red or orange ones with the handles.  While you’re there grab a package of popsicle sticks, a roll of jute twine, a box of the small zipper snack bags, a bag of brown shredded craft paper and a canning jar with a lid.  You will also need 5 apples, an 11 oz bag of caramel bits and a plastic bag to put the apples in.  Fortunately, the fruits and vegetable market I go to had the perfect plastic bags so I just used the ones I bought the apples in.

Pour the caramel bits into the canning jar (be sure to wash it first) and place the popsicle sticks into a zipper snack bag.  Attach a label on the canning jar and then pretty up the snack bag with a piece of the leaf paper folded over the top (the printable links are below.)  For the canning jar label, I just cut the printable to size and attached it to the lid with double-sided tape.  Tie some jute twine around the canning jar and the bag of apples for an extra fall look!

To assemble the gift basket place the shredded paper in the bottom of the container then add the bag of apples, the jar of caramel bits and the snack bag with the popsicle sticks. Be sure to include the card with the instructions.  You can also include a “Have a fun Fall Break” gift card if you’d like.  The final step is to tape the “Happy Fall” sign onto the front of the container with the double-sided tape.

And that’s all there is to it!  A super easy and inexpensive gift any teacher would love!
