My daughter was in love with all things Frozen when she was younger and she still secretly is (although don’t tell her 4th-grade friends!)   For her 5th birthday, Kristen and I planned a party fit for a Frozen princess.  Our guest list included 40+ kids and adults and I was still able to keep the party within my strict $200 party budget.  It ended up being a magical day that was fun for all ages!

The Decor

Guests were greeted by this easy DIY wreath welcome sign.  It was made with an inexpensive styrofoam wreath form, tulle, and a sign I made using PicMonkey.  We used a lot of different colored rolls of tulle for this party, most of which we found on clearance or purchased using coupons from craft stores.

We set up several backdrops for the different stations including one for the gift table, photo booth, cake table, and the food & drink tables.  The backdrops are made with PVC pipe that are easy to put together and can be used over & over.  Each one was covered with gift wrap that we purchased on clearance after Christmas.

The large Anna and Elsa cutouts were also made with glittery wrapping paper.  I just projected the images on a wall using our LCD projector and traced them onto the paper.

I did the same with the Olaf backdrop except I cut him from a piece of white felt then used felt to make his features and real twigs spray painted white for his arms. The “snow” he was playing in was just some cotton batting that we attached to the wrapping paper with double sided tape.

The highlight of the cake table backdrop were large pictures of my daughter dancing with Anna and Elsa at Disneyland when she was 4.  I made them using this tutorial and they were part of her Frozen room decor so we borrowed them to use for the party!

All the tables were covered with linens that we purchased from a decor company that was going out of business.  We’ve re-used them many times over the past several years.  The table skirt for the Elsa table was made with tulle.  We simply cut a long piece of tulle that fit the sides and front of the serving table then tied lengths of different colored tulle to that long piece.  When we were finished, we attached the tulle skirt to the tablecloth using safety pins.  The large number 5 on the cake table was cut out of glittery blue wrapping paper that we glued to foam core board.

The centerpieces were so simple to make!  We used small white, glittery buckets that we found on clearance.  They were filled with pieces of styrofoam we had saved from shipping boxes and glittery shredded paper.  The signs were made using PicMonkey and the Anna and Elsa figures were just printed on cardstock with small pieces of tulle and ribbon attached with hot glue to make their skirts.  You can find the Anna and Elsa images here.  The signs and figures were then attached to bamboo skewers with tape and placed in the buckets.  Instead of using linen table runners we simply used some of the glittery wrapping paper.

The remaining decor was all after Christmas clearance finds including glittery garland that we wrapped around the trees and sparkly icicle Christmas ornaments.  We also pulled out some of my daughter’s favorite Frozen toys to decorate the food tables!

Oh, and the tent!  This has been our favorite party purchase so far!  We’ve used it for several different parties over the past 5 years and it is still holding up.  It’s been a blessing in the hot Arizona sun.  For this party, my dad surprised the birthday girl with several Dollar Tree Frozen balloons so we just tied them on the tent!

We served Sven’s Swedish meatballs and noodles, Troll rolls, Coronation salad, Anna’s Lingonberry and cheese crostini, Olaf’s arms, nose, and buttons (pretzel sticks, baby carrots, and black olives), Marshmallow’s snowballs (white cheddar cheese puffs), and Kristoff’s Ice blocks (blue jello cubes.)

For dessert, we served the Elsa cake that was a throwback to my favorite birthday cake as a kid.  I used a brand new Elsa doll and decorated the cake to look like her dress using snowflake sprinkles.  Like all my cakes, it’s not perfect but it was homemade with love by me!

We also served CHOCOLATE!!  I bought the chocolate fountain at a Black Friday sale a few months before the party and it was a big hit!  The kids loved dunking the strawberries, marshmallows, and graham crackers in it!

As usual, I used coupons and grocery sale ads to keep the food costs low and then had fun coming up with the names to fit the theme.  We also had fun going to Ikea to get the Lingonberry jam for the crostinis!  We used existing serving pieces including the large chafing dish that Kristen bought from a hotel sale years ago.

All of the food labels were made using PicMonkey and styrofoam ornaments that I cut in half.  They were another clearance find at just 3 cents each!

The Games

We had a few activities to keep the kids busy during the party including Elsa’s Ice bubbles, a Sven ring toss, and Pin the Nose on Olaf.

The ice bubbles were homemade bubbles in plastic punch cups.  We made the wands using pipe cleaners in Frozen colors.

Sven’s ring toss was made from one of my husband’s elk antler mounts and an image of Sven that I printed out on cardstock.  The rings were glow necklaces from Dollar Tree.

For the Olaf game, I projected a large image of Olaf onto posterboard using our LCD projector and traced it then used a black marker to fill it in.  The noses were printed out on cardstock and then attached with double-sided sticky tape.

We also had a photo booth using props I purchased on Etsy and a backdrop made from shimmery silver wrapping paper and a Frozen party sign that we purchased from the 99 Cent Only Store.

Each guest was sent home with a party favor.  The adults received little bags of Frozen rock candy made from this recipe.  The kids each received a bubble wand and a white paper lunch sack filled with Frozen themed items including glittery slime, crayons, a book, and a bag of the rock candy.  The glittery slime was made using this tutorial and put it in little containers from Dollar Tree.  The bubble wands, crayons, and books were purchased on clearance from Target.  For some reason, we didn’t get a picture of what was inside the bags but all the kids loved their favors!  I used PicMonkey to make the Olaf favor sign as well as the personalized labels for each of the white lunch sacks and the rock candy bags.
